NFL Concussion Settlement

Case Strategies Group can help eligible former players apply for benefits under a recent class action settlement with the National Football League that was approved by a federal court. We do charge a contingent fee for our services. Case Strategies is not affiliated with the NFL and is not endorsed or appointed by the court.

The In re: National Football League Players’ Concussion Injury Litigation class action settlement became final and effective on January 7, 2017, which is the “Effective Date” of the Settlement. For more information about the Settlement Agreement, visit the Official NFL Concussion Settlement Website here to read the Frequently Asked Questions and Answers approved by the Court.

The NFL Concussion Settlement provides benefits for certain injuries to ex-NFL players who retired on or before July 7,2014.  Maximum benefits are $5,000,000 but actual benefits are determined based upon the players’ eligible seasons, age at time of diagnosis, and the diagnosis of injury. Please note that there may be other mitigating factors that could reduce potential rewards.

All Settlement Class Members must register with the Claims Administrator to receive any Settlement benefits. Settlement Class Members include Retired NFL Football Players, authorized representatives of deceased or legally incapacitated or incompetent Retired NFL Football Players (“Representative Claimants”) and family members or other persons who under applicable state law, may assert the right to sue independently or derivatively because of a relationship with a Retired NFL Football Player (“Derivative Claimants”).

Class Registration opened February 6, 2017, and will close August 7, 2017. Individuals who meets the Class Definitions and do not register by August 7, 2017, cannot participate in the Baseline Assessment Program or receive a Monetary Award or Derivative Claimant Award.

You do not have to hire an attorney or claims expert to participate in the Settlement program, but the settlement administrators cannot and will not provide any legal advice.

Case Strategies Group recommends that claimants hire both legal counsel and claim experts to assist in navigating all settlement requirements, especially given the nature of NFL Concussion Settlement. Players suffering from ALS, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, or Level 1.5 or even Level 2.0 Neurocognitive Impairment may exhibit symptoms which will make this process more difficult.

Understanding that everyone is unique, Case Strategies Group is committed to providing a bespoke, customized service to meet any of our clients’ needs and answer all questions pertaining to their claim. Whether a retired NFL player desires suggestions for legal representation, needs assistance making decisions about treating and assessing physicians and neuropsychological clinicians, or help selecting an appropriate physician from the list provided by the Claims Administrator (per the court-approved settlement process) to provide a qualifying diagnosis (as defined in the settlement), we are here to assist. Additionally, each client will receive a detailed claim valuation report to help them understand the potential monetary value of their claim.
