The In re: National Football League Players’ Concussion Injury Litigation class action settlement became final and effective on January 7, 2017, which is the “Effective Date” of the Settlement. For more information about the Settlement Agreement, visit the Official NFL Concussion Settlement Website here to read the Frequently Asked Questions and Answers approved by the Court.
The NFL Concussion Settlement provides benefits for certain injuries to ex-NFL players who retired on or before July 7,2014. Maximum benefits are $5,000,000 but actual benefits are determined based upon the players’ eligible seasons, age at time of diagnosis, and the diagnosis of injury. Please note that there may be other mitigating factors that could reduce potential rewards.
All Settlement Class Members must register with the Claims Administrator to receive any Settlement benefits. Settlement Class Members include Retired NFL Football Players, authorized representatives of deceased or legally incapacitated or incompetent Retired NFL Football Players (“Representative Claimants”) and family members or other persons who under applicable state law, may assert the right to sue independently or derivatively because of a relationship with a Retired NFL Football Player (“Derivative Claimants”).
Class Registration opened February 6, 2017, and will close August 7, 2017. Individuals who meets the Class Definitions and do not register by August 7, 2017, cannot participate in the Baseline Assessment Program or receive a Monetary Award or Derivative Claimant Award.
